Egle inhabits and furnishes us with a dreamlike and imaginative world where her photo-realistic figures clothed in sumptuous Renaissance like apparel sit strikingly against an often surreal and exotic background built up with plaster moulding and overlaid with vivid colours and gold ground.
She treats her clear-eyed young girls with compassion as they look up smilingly nestling close to sometimes protective sometimes threatening-looking exotic plumaged golden-eyed, black-beaked birds with whom they nevertheless seem to co-exist comfortably….a snapshot, though, of a moment in time whence we cannot predict the consequences.
There is much therefore to absorb in Egle’s unique, rich paintings, small-scale and monumental.
A graduate of the Art Academy of Vilnius in her native Lithuania,
Egle has fulfilled major commissions in Kaliningrad, Russia in recent years and exhibited and held residencies in places as far apart as Reykjavic, Iceland, in Lapland, and Strasbourg, and Monaco, where she was awarded the Prix du Public at the Gemlucart International Competition in 2016.
Egle lives in the Var, South of France and is permanently represented by Galerie Beddington Fine Art .
